This article provides a discussion of an inter-relationship in the development of psychology linguisticts instructional focus language teaching/learning and language testing. The discussion reveals that there are parallel changes in these areas. They moved toward integrative and communicative view which centred around learnes and learning. It is predicted that in the near future the focus on learner and learning will continue with an interest in learning strategies employed by language learners. Computer assisted learning may develop. In the globalisation era there is a need to emphasise mastery of spoken skills.
