Benzoylation of quercetine using Markham method gives quercetine tetrabenzoate. Elucidation of the structure besd on mass 13C and 1H NMR IR and UV-Vis spectroscopic methods indicated that benzoylation took place on 5 7 3 and4 positions. The optimum yields was obtained for reaction which was conducted in 24 hours.
