Halaman: 192-198 The present article deals with the following issues (a) whether or not the revelation of the Holy Qur an is a linguistic-communicative event (b) the characteristics of revelation in terms of linguistic communication and (c) whether or not the revelation encompasses the dimensions of langue and parole. In view of linguistic concepts the social function of language and texts of the Holy Qur an there are positive answers to deal with questions a and c. As regards questrion b there is a unique linguistic communicative event taking place. The uniqueness of the event refers to the following three factors (a) the revelation incorporates four participants namely God Gabriel (angel) the Prophet and the community (b) the revelation which goes continuously along unidirectional line does not always take a verbal form yet the Prophet puts an emphasis on the semantic accuracy and the linguistic forms in the preaching of the Qur an and (c) it emphasizes the misteriousness of the communicative process among the first three participants (God Gabriel and the Prophet). 1.
