Evaluation of Student Lerning in Organic Chemistry Using the SOLO Taxonomy



This article describe the experience in adapting a standardized instrument the Structural of Observed Learning Outcomes (SOLO) taxonomy for use in an organic chemistry two-semester course sequence at a small liberal arts college for women. The SOLO taxonomy describes students lerrning in five hierarchical levels related to as student s ability to apply appropriate concepts in answering questions connect concepts together coherently and relate concepts to new ideas.
