A laboratory project to sythesize a six-membered cyclopalladated complex by activitation of a Caliphatic-H bond is described. Characterization is by multinuclear NMR. The synsthesis associated with this experiment can be comfortably accomodated in two three-hour laboratory sessions. This experiment has been used with undergraduate students for several years and no problems have been detected.
