Nonlinear optical effect are of increasing importance in science and in industry laboratory experiments providing undergraduate students experience beyond the usual linear forms of spectroscopy are rare. The researches describe a variant of the experiment of Grant and Hardwick in which a simple transmission grating and a meter stick can be used to determine wavelengths.
