 <note>Improving elementary school student   oral proficiency in Indonesian  especially among the upper graders (i.e.  the 3rd through sixth graders)  can be done by means of conversation and information-sharing. In the conversation activity  the class is divided into small groups  each group is assigned to respond to a story or a reading passage. Through this activity the students have the opportunity to initiate a conversation  to do turn taking  to continue an on-going  conversation  to tolerate different opinions  to express their thoughts and feelings  to refer to their friends   opinions  and to end a conversation. Besides conversation  information-sharing is also useful for developing students   oral proficiency in Indonesian. The information-sharing activity helps students to develop their skills in presenting information  putting forward their thoughts or ideas  supporting their opinions  and choosing a conversation topic</note>
